 Most of the people in this valley literally have to carve their existence out of the hillside, terracing the slopes for home and garden. Tourism and the money it brings have provided an opportunity to improve the standard of living for those willing to take the chance. Recently, the threat of Maoist violence coupled with September 11th has slowed the flow of tourist to a mere trickle, leaving many, like this woman, to contemplate their future, alone. John Lindsey |
