36. Yak Over Gokyo Lake

Bone tired after climbing Gokyo Ri, and 18,000ft trekking peak in the Khumbu, I came upon this grazing yak, a perfect complement to one of the most majestic views in the Himalaya. Just an hour earlier, most of Nepal had been shadowed in a 90-percent solar eclipse, lighting Gokyo valley with an otherworldly glow. It was one of the last days of my first trek in the Himalaya, and I knew then and there I would come back to the Himalaya - again and again.
