Our team was attempting the standard route on Mustagh Ata. Mustagh Ata lies between the Eastern Pamir and the Western Kunlun ranges. We came up the Karakoram highway from Rawalpindi, Pakistan via Gilgit and crossed the border into Xinjiang, China over the Kunjerab PAss. Two days later we hauled into our "meadow camp" which was at the physical limit of our trucks. We pitched tents in the grassy field. Some Kirghiz were moving their sheep and I could see they would ride under a leg of the rainbow's arch. I grabbed my camera and got this shot. The mountains at the head of the Wakan Corridor in Afghanistan can be seen in the distant West.
