After several days of monsoon rains, a hillside above the tiny village of Hushe gave way, sending an avalanche of mud (upper left corner) down the valley. The mudslide let out a long roar, like a distant jet engine, prompting most of the villagers to line up on a bluff above the fields for a birdseye view.
